Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "As for me, I pour water three times on my head." And he pointed with both his hands.

The people contended amongst themselves in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with regard to bathing. Some of them said: We wash our heads like this and this. Upon this the Messenger (ﷺ) said: As for me I pour three handfuls of wate

I pour water over my head thrice.

A delegation of the Thaqif said to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): Our land is cold; what about our bathing then? He (the Prophet) said: I pour water thrice over my head. Ibn Salim in his narration reported:" The delegation of the Thaqif said:

People made a mention of washing because of sexual defilement before the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I pour (water) on my head three times. And he made a sign with both his hands.

"They argued about Ghusl in the presence of the messenger of Allah (ﷺ). One of the people said: 'I perform Ghusl in such-and-such a manner.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'As for me, I pour three handfuls of water over my head.'"

"(The Companions) disputed in the presence of the Messenger of Allah about having a bath to cleanse oneself from sexual impurity. The Messenger of Allah said: 'As for me, I pour three handfuls of water on my head.'"

"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I live in a cold land, so how should I have a bath to cleanse myself from sexual impurity?' He said: 'As for me, I pour three handfuls of water over my head.'"
