The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed two prostrations for forgetfulness after salutation and talking.

It is through another chain of transmitters that this hadith has been reported by Abu Mas'ud from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).

"The Prophet (S) performed two prostrations for As-Sahw after talking."

Abu Hurairah reported; He then made two prostration on account of forgetfulness after he had given the salutation.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said the salam, then he spoke, then he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness.

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said the salam then he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness while he was still sitting, then he said the salam." He said: He mentioned it in the hadith of Dhul-Yadain.

The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed Zuhr or ‘Asr with five rak’ahs, then he did the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Then The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "These two prostrations are for anyone among you who thinks that he did more or less.”
