حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَرَأَ عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) recited the Opening of the Book (Al-Fatihah) in the funeral prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ النَّبِيلُ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُسْتَمِرِّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ شَرِيكٍ الأَنْصَارِيَّةُ، قَالَتْ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَنْ نَقْرَأَ عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ‏.‏

English translation

Umm Sharik Al-Ansari said:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to recite the Opening of the Book (Al-Fatihah) in the funeral prayer.”
