‏ الْمَاءُ لاَ يُجْنِبُ ‏

English translation

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:

"One of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) took a bath from a large vessel, then the Prophet (ﷺ) came and had a bath or ablution, and she said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was sexually impure.' He said: 'Water does not become impure.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ اغْتَسَلَ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فِي جَفْنَةٍ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ لِيَغْتَسِلَ أَوْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ اغْتَسَلَتْ مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ أَوِ اغْتَسَلَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ مِنْ فَضْلِ وَضُوئِهَا ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that:

One of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) took a bath to cleanse herself from sexual impurity, then the Prophet (ﷺ) performed ablution and had a bath with the water left over from her ablution."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ تَوَضَّأَ بِفَضْلِ غُسْلِهَا مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas, from Maimunah the wife of the Prophet, that :

the Prophet (ﷺ) performed ablution with the water left over after she had taken a bath to cleanse herself from sexual impurity.
