‏ زُورُوا الْقُبُورَ فَإِنَّهَا تُذَكِّرُكُمُ الآخِرَةَ ‏

English translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Visit the graves, for they will remind you of the Hereafter.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا بِسْطَامُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ رَخَّصَ فِي زِيَارَةِ الْقُبُورِ ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave permission for visiting the graves.

‏ كُنْتُ نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ زِيَارَةِ الْقُبُورِ فَزُورُوا الْقُبُورَ فَإِنَّهَا تُزَهِّدُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَتُذَكِّرُ الآخِرَةَ ‏

English translation

It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ud that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “I used to forbid you to visit the graves, but now visit them, for they will draw your attention away from this world and remind you of the Hereafter.”
