[أَبُو غَسَّان] النَّهْدِيّ. كُوفِي. قَالَ السَّعْدِيّ: كَانَ حسنيا. قَالَ ابن عدي: يَعْنِي الحسن بن صَالح على عِبَادَته وَسُوء مذْهبه، وَلم أذكر لَهُ من الحَدِيث شيئا لِأَنَّهُ مَشْهُور بِالصّدقِ وَكَثْرَة الرِّوَايَات فِي جملَة الكُوفِيّين، وَهُوَ أشهر من أَن نذْكر لَهُ حَدِيثا فَإِن أَحَادِيثه تكْثر، وَإِذا حدث عَن صَدُوق مثله وَحدث عَنهُ صَدُوق فَلَا بَأْس بِهِ فِي حَدِيثه. [ع]. ثقة مشهور، تناكد ابن عدي بإيراده مع اعترافه بصدقه وعدالته. وساق قول السعدى فيه: كان حسنيا - يعنى على مذهب شيخه الحسن بن صالح. وقد قال ابن معين فيما نقله عنه أبو حاتم: ليس بالكوفة أتقن من أبي غسان. وقال أبو حاتم: لم أر بالكوفة أتقن منه لا أبو نعيم ولا غيره، له فضل وعبادة، كنت إذا نظرت اليه كأنه خرج من قبر، كانت عليه سجادتان.
