[١٠٠٨٨] قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جَمِيلِ بْنِ طَرِيفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، الثَّقَفِيُّ، أَبُو رَجَاءٍ (¬٧) (¬٨). سمع اللَّيثَ، ومالكًا، وحمَّادَ بنَ زَيْدٍ، وأبا عَوانةَ (¬٩). ماتَ في (¬١٠) شعبانَ سَنَةَ أَربعينَ ومائتينِ (¬١١).

" Glorify The name of Your Lord, the Most High" (Surah lxxxvii.), and:" Has there come to you the news of the overwhelming event" (lxxxviii.). And when the 'Id and Jumu'a combined on a day he recited these two (surah) in both the prayers.
"For the two Eid and the Friday prayer, the Prophet (ﷺ) would recite: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High, and Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming? And sometimes they would occur on he same day, so he would recite the two of them."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite on the two 'Eids and on Friday: "GLorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High" and "Has there come to you the narration of The Overwhelming?" Sometimes the two ('Eid and Jumu'ah) occurred on the same day, and he would recite them (these two Surahs).
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite: 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High' and "Has there come to you the narration of The Overwhelming?', on Friday and on 'Eid, and when Friday and 'Eid converged, he would recite them both."
An-Nu‘man b. Bashir said that God’s Messenger used to recite at the two festivals1 and on Friday, “Glorify the name of your most high Lord", 2 and “Has the story of the overwhelming event reached you?"3 He said that when a festival and a Friday coincided he recited them both at the two prayers. 1. <i>Id al-Fitr</i> at the end of Ramadan, and <i>Id al-Adha</i> on the 10th of Dhul Hijja, when sacrifices are made. The former is called the lesser and latter the greater. 2. Al-Qur’an; 87. 3. Al-Qur'an, 88. Muslim transmitted it.
