إِذَا سَافَرْتُمَا فَأَذِّنَا وَأَقِيمَا وَلْيَؤُمَّكُمَا أَكْبَرُكُمَا
. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ اخْتَارُوا الأَذَانَ فِي السَّفَرِ . وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ تُجْزِئُ الإِقَامَةُ إِنَّمَا الأَذَانُ عَلَى مَنْ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَجْمَعَ النَّاسَ . وَالْقَوْلُ الأَوَّلُ أَصَحُّ . وَبِهِ يَقُولُ أَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاقُ .
English translation
Malik bin Al-Huwairih said:
"A cousin of mine and I arrived as guests of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . He said to us: 'When you travel then call the Adhan and Iqamah and let the eldest of you lead the prayer.'"
