    عزل محمد الخامس وإخراجه من القصر بالقوة وفي يوم الخميس تاسع ذي الحجة عامه موافق ٢٠ غشت ١٩٥٣ بعد الزوال، توجّه المقيم العام كيوم مع جماعة من الحرس وبعض حاشيته إلى القصر الملكي العامر الذي كان محاصرا من قبل قوات الحماية وطلب من جلالة الملك أن يتنازل عن العرش فامتنع، فطلب منه أن يخرج من القصر فامتنع أيضا فتقدم إليه الحرس الفرنسي المسلح وأخرجوه منه قهرا وهو في ملابسه الصيفية محفوفا بولديه الأميرين المولى الحسن ولي عهده والمولى عبد الله إلى المطار العسكري بسلا فنقلتهم الطائرة إلى جزيرة كورسيكا.
