    الزمزمي بن محمد الكتاني وفي يوم الثلاثاء سادس صفر الخير وصل الخبر إلى فاس بأنّ محمد الزمزمي بن الشيخ الشهير محمد بن جعفر الكتانب الحسني توفي بدمشق بعد أداء فريضة الحج في موسم العام قبله، ثم ذهب إلى الشام لأجل صلة الرحم مع أخيه الشيخ المكي المستوطن هناك، فقدّرت له الوفاة بتلك البقاع. تقدمت وفاة والده عام خمسة وأربعين وثلاثمائة وألف. كان عالما مشاركا مطلعا خيرا دينا، بلغني أن له تآليف. ترجمه بعض قرابته ترجمة واسعة في جريدة السعادة في أربعة أعداد منها وذكر له عدة تآليف، له ترجمة في سل النصال مع صورته.
