    محمد بن المدني كنّون وفي ليلة الجمعة أول يوم من ذي الحجة توفي محمد بن المدني بن علي كنّون، خاتمة المحققين وإمام المدققين، الحافظ المشارك المدرس النفاعة الكثير التلاميذة. صار شيخ الجماعة بفاس في وقته. الشيخ الشهير، والحجة الكبير، له حاشية على الموطا؛ واختصار حاشية الرهوني على شرح الشيخ عبد الباقي الزرقاني على المختصر للشيخ خليل؛ والدرر المكنونة فيالنسبة المصونة، إلى غير ذلك من التآليف النافعة. ألف في ترجمته تلميذه محمد بن مصطفى المشرفي الحسني الآتي الوفاة عام أربعة وثلاثين وثلاثمائة وألف تأليفا سماه الدر المكنون في التعريف بالشيخ جنّون، يقع في سفر وسط. دفن بالقباب أسفل قبة أبي المحاسن.
