    (٧١٦) م- محمد بن أبي الجعد [الكوفي وقيل: ابن الجعد]: عن الشعبي. وعنه الثوري. ذكره العقيلي، وقال أبو حاتم: "يُكتب حديثه". قال يحيى القطان، ثنا محمد بن أبي الجعد، عن الشعبي: "أنه حَرَّم شراء تراب الصاغة بالوَرِقْ".ا. هـ.قلت: روى عن عطاء. وعنه وكيع، وأبو نعيم، ومحمد بن ربيعة. ذكره ابن حِبَّان في "الثقات"، وقال يعقوب بن سفيان: "ثقة"، وقال الخطيب البغدادي: "محمد بن الجعد، وهو ابن أبي الجعد الكوفي"، وقال الدوري، عن ابن معين: "يقال له: من بني الوصاب" (١).
