حمزة بن محمد بن حسن بن علي بن عبد الحكيم البجائي: عالم مالكي، مهر في الأصلين والعربية والصرف والمعاني والبيان والمنطق. من أهل بجاية. تعلم بها وبتونس، ثم رحل إلى المشرق، وحج وجاور. وعاد إلى القاهرة فاجتمع بالكافيجي أحد العلماء بالمعقولات، وكان هذا يجل البجائي لعلمه. قال السخاوي: "وأقام بالقاهرة منجمعا عن الناس، وأقرأ الطلبة واجتمع به الفضلاء، وطلبه السلطان بعد محنة إمامه الكركي فاجتمع به ومازحهوقبل شفاعته في بعض الأمور. وقد سلمت عليه بعد قدومه من الحج المرة الثانية فابتهج ومشى معي من خلوته لباب المدرسة، والبغاث بأرض مصر يستنصر".
