    ٢ - عثمان بن عفان السِّجْزي. حدث عن: معتمر بن سليمان، وعبد العزيز بن أبان. روى عنه: محمد بن معاذ الماليني وغيره. قال الخطيب: قال البرقاني: سألت الشماخي يعني الحسين بن أحمد الصفار عن عثمان بن عفان فقال: كما شاء الله في دينه، وهو سجزي. قال الخطيب [٨٥ - أ]: أخبرني محمد بن علي المقري: أنا محمد بن عبد الله النيسابوري الحافظ، قال: سمعت الخليل بن أحمد القاضي يقول:دخلت على أبي بكر محمد بن إسحاق بن خُزيمة عند توجهي إلى العراق فتكلمت بين يديه في مسألة، فقال: من أين أنت؟ قلت: من أهل سجستان، قال: ما فعل عثمان بن عفانكم؟ قلت: إنه مات. قال: لا ﵀، أشهد أنه كان يضع الحديث على رسول الله ﷺ.
