    ٣ - والضحاك بن عثمان الثالث غير مشهور. قال [٥٦ - أ] الخطيب: أخبرني محمد بن علي المقرئ، عن محمد بن عبد الله بن محمد النيسابوري، قال: حدثني محمد بن أحمد الحقاف: نا محمد بن المنذر -يعني شكر الهروي-: حدثني محمد بن حماد: حدثني الضحاك بن عثمان من أهل زربة قال: سمعت أبا محمد خادم سفيان الثوري يقول: رأيت في النوم سفيان بن سعيد الثوري فقلت: ما فعل الله بك يا عبد الله؟ قال: غفر لي، قلت: فعبد الله بن المبارك، قال: ارفع رأسك ما ترى ذلك الكوكب الدري، ذلك منزل ابن المبارك.
