١٠٠٠ - (س ق) جعفر بن عياض يروي عن أبي هريرة. ذكره أبو حاتم بن حبان في «جملة الثقات»، وخرج حديثه في الاستعاذة في «صحيحه»، وكذلك أبو عبد الله الحاكم النيسابوري. وقال الحافظ أبو علي الطوسي - لما خرج حديثه -: معروف في المدنيين. وفي كتاب «العلل» لعبد الله بن أحمد: سألت أبي عن جعفر بن عياض، فقال: لا أذكره. وذكره أبو العرب القيرواني في «جملة الضعفاء». وزعم بعض المتأخرين من المصنفين أنه لا يعرف والله يغفر لنا وله، وزعم الصريفيني أن الترمذي روى له أيضا.
