    ٧٣٢٧ - ز- محمد بن قيس بن الربيع الأسدي الكوفي، هو الذي أفسد حديث أبيه. قال عبد الله بن علي بن المديني، عن أبيه: وَضَعوا في كتاب قيس بن الربيع حديثَ أبي هاشم إسماعيل بن كثير، عن عاصم بن لَقِيط: "في الوضوء" ولم يسمع من إسماعيل بن كثير شيئًا، وإنما أهلكه ابنٌ له، قَلَب عليه أشياء من حديثه. وقال ابن نمير: كان له ابن هو آفته. وقال أبو داود: إنما أُتِي قيس من قِبَل ابنه، كان يأخذ حديث الناس، فيجعله في كتب أبيه، ولا يعرف الشيخُ ذلك. وقال أحمد: كان ابن قيس يأخذ حديث مِسْعَر وسفيان الثوري عن المتقدمين، فيجعلها في حديث أبيه، وهو لا يعلم. قلت: ولم أقف لمحمد بن قيس على ترجمة إلَّا هذا القدر الذي ذكرته.
