الشيخ محمد بن الحسن بن عبد الله الظفري الصنعاني عالم صنعاء وفرد العلماء ونخبة الفضلاء وعمدة النبلاء، ولد في سنة ألف ومائة وست وسبعين. قال في البرج الطالع في ترجمته: برع في العلوم الآلية، وشارك في غيرها، وله فهم جيد وإدراك قوي، وسمت حسن وعقل رصين. وكان مجتهداً يعمل بالسنة والكتاب ولا يأخذ بقولمجتهد ولا يعد التقليد من الصواب، بل يتقيد بالنصوص الصحيحة والدلائل الصريحة. توفي سنة ألف ومائتين وسنة واحدة.
