الشيخ صالح بن محمد بن خليل بن صالح بن خليل الدمشقي الشافعي الشهير بالقزاز ولد بدمشق ونشأ بها، وكان عالماً عاملاً وفقيهاً فاضلاً، ورعاً زاهداً وناسكاً عابداً، من مشاهير العلماء وأفاضل الفضلاء.أروي مذهب الشافعي عن والدي عنه بسنده المتصل إلى صاحب المذهب، وهو من أجل شيوخ والدي. وقد أخذ عن كثيرين من أجلهم الشمس محمد الكزبري والشهاب أحمد العطار والسليمي الشيخ علي والشيخ أبي الفتح وغيرهم من الأجلاء. وكان كاتباً ذا خط جميل مع غاية السرعة، وكاد إذا رقم كتاباً كبيراً أن لا تجد فيه تحريفة من أوله إلى آخره توفي بدمشق سنة أربعين ومائتين وألف ودفن في باب الصغير قرب قبر سيدنا الصحابي الجليل أوس ﵁.
