الشيخ راغب بن الشيخ صالح بن سعيد الدمشقي الحنفي المعروف بالأسطواني ولد سنة أربعين ومائتين وألف واشتغل من أول عمره في القراءة والعلم والتردد على المشايخ العظام، والأفاضل الكرام، وتولى نيابة المحكمة السنانية في دمشق الشام، ولم يزل مقبلاً على الطلب بجد واجتهاد إلى أن توفي في رابع ذي القعدة الحرام سنة ثلاث وتسعين ومائتين وألف ودفن في مرج الدحداح في تربة الذهبية.
