الشيخ إسماعيل بن أحمد بن علي المنيني الدمشقي الحنفي مفتي دمشق الشام الشيخ الإمام، مفتي الأنام، عمدة الحكام، وقطب مدار الأحكام، نادرة العصر، ويتيمة الدهر، ولد بدمشق الشام ونشأ بها سنة تسع وثلاثين ومائة وألف، وأخذ عن الأفاضل منهم الشهاب المنيني وعلي أفندي الداغستانيوالعلامة حسن البرزنجي والشيخ صالح الجينيني والشيخ عبد الرحمن الكفرسوسي، وفي سنة ثمان وثمانين ومائة وألف ولي وظيفة إفتاء دمشق الشام وكان قد ولي خطابة الجامع الأموي، مات سنة خمس عشرة ومائتين والف ودفن في مرج الدحداح.
