الشيخ أسعد بن عبد الرحيم بن أسعد بن إسحاق بن محمد بن علي الشافعي الدمشقي الشهير بالمنير العالم الأوحد، والكامل المفرد، والهمام الفاضل، والإمام ذو الفضائل، ولد بدمشق سنة ست وسبعين ومائة وألف في ربيع الأول وكان أوحد أهل عصره، ومطمح نظر أهل مصره، في الفنون العقلية، والعلوم النقلية، مع مهابة وزهادة، وتقوى وعبادة، وتمسك بالسنة النبوية، والملة المحمدية، مات في الثاني عشر من رجب سنة ثلاث وأربعين ومائتين وألف ودفن في مقبرة باب الصغير رحمه الله تعالى.
