محمد بن الحسن الحبيب بن سماخ أبو عبد الله، الغافقي من أهلها. وليَ قضاءها. وكان من أهل العلم والفقه والفضل. وله رحلة لقيَ فيها القاضي أبو محمد عبد الوهاب بن نصر وحمل عنه تواليفه، وأثنى عليه ابن عتاب، وابن القطان، وابن مالك فقهاء قرطبة. ووصفوه بالعلم والفضل والسداد فيما يتولاه. أخذ عنه الناس وحملوا عنه كتب القاضي أبي محمد. وكان يحمل عنه فممن روى عنه القاضي أبو الأصبغ عيسى بن سهل، وشيخنا أبو محمد ابن عتاب.
