علي بن محمد بن ابراهيم بن هشام بصري تقدم ذكر أبيه في أئمة المالكية وكبار أصحاب اسماعيل. وذكر هذا أبو عمر المغربي في كتابه. وذكر أنه مالكي، ويكنى بأبي الحسن. قال: وكان خيرًا فاضلًا، من مياسير البصرة. وتصدق بماله، وغلب عليه الزهد، وروى القراءة على أبي العباس المعدل. وروى عنه ابن غليون. قال: توفي بالبصرة سنة سبع وسبعين وثلاثماية. وخرج بجنازته بعد الزوال، فلم يصل الى موقفه، إلا بعد المغرب، من كثرة ما شاهده، حتى ضجّ الناس بذلك.
