    ابن طالب القاضي كنيته أبو العباس. واسمه عبد الله بن طالب، بن سفيان بن سالم، بن عقال بن خفاجة التميمي، من بني عم بني الأغلب، أمراء القيروان. ويقال طالب بن سعيد بن سفيان، وقد غلط بعضهم فيه. فنسبه: كنيته، فظن أن اسمه أحمد. فسماه به. تفقه بسحنون، وكان من كبار أصحابه. ولقي المصريين محمد بن عبد الحكم، ويونس بن عبد الأعلى، وحج فانصرف. وولي الصلاة، ثم قضاء القيروان مرتين. أحدهما سنة سبع وخمسين ومائتين. ثم عزل سنة تسع وخمسين، والثانية سنة سبع وستين، وعزل سنة خمس وسبعين. سمع منه أبو العرب وابن اللّباد. وكان جميل الصورة، بهي الخلق، فاخر اللباس، أحور العينين.
