حماد بن يحيى أبو يحيى السجلماسي عداده في أهل القيروان. سمع عبد الله بن بكر السهمي وابن الماجشون. وهو أول من قدم بفقه ابن الماجشون القيروان. قال محمد بن أحمد بن تميم: وقد سمع من سحنون، وكان شيخًا صالحًا تاجرًا. وكان في كتبه تصحيف كثير، لم يكن يقوم بها. سمع منه عامة أصحاب سحنون، وكان له ابن ابنه حسن، روى عن أبيه، مات قديمًا. سمع منه ابن بسطام.
