    اسماعيل بن يربوع هو اسماعيل بن محمد بن ابراهيم بن أبي العيش بن يربوع القيسي، تقدم ذكر أبيه، وجده؛ أخذ بسبتة عن جده أبي اسحاق، ورحل الى المشرق فحج، وسمع بمكة ومصرمن جماعة، منهم: أبو الحسن بن صخر، وأبو زكرياء يحيى ابن مطرف؛ وتصرف في علوم كثيرة، وكان فقيهًا نبيلا، أديبًا شاعرًا؛ ولم تكن أصوله هناك في الاتقان، فخرج عن سبتة في أول ظهور المرابطين، فكان معهم هناك إلى أن توفي في أغمات (¬١).
