أبو المطرف عبد الرحمان بن سعيد بن جرج (¬١) أصله من البيرة وسكن قرطبة، طلب العلم، وتفقه بابن أبي زمنين، ومسلمة بن برى، وطبقتهم؛ ورحل فحج، وأخذ عن القابسي، والداودي، وغيرهما؛ وشوور بقرطبة، وكان كثير الدعاء والذكر، ملازما للجامع يقرأ فيه على من يتعلق إليه من العامة.قال ابن حيان: ولم يكن من المستبحرين في العلم، ولا من أهل الحذق بالمسائل المالكية. وتوفى سنة تسع وثلاثين - وهو ابن سبعين سنة، مولده سنة ثمان وستين وثلاثمائة.
