المسدد بن أحمد بن جعفر بن الحسين بن جعفر بن محمد بن أيوب بن محمد بن عبد الله بن قيس بن سعيد بن عبادة بن دلامة بن الخزرج البصيري سمع من خاله أبي القاسم بن الجلاب، وشرح كتابه المسمى بالتفريع. قال ابن الحصار: كان من أهل العلم والحظ الوافر من العلم؛ سمع بالعراق، والبصرة وبشيراز، وغيرها؛ من شيوخها [¬١]: أبو علي السلمي القاضي، وأبو بكر الطهراني، وأبو بكر أحمد بن عبيد الله؛ دروي عنه الدلائي، وغيره؛ ودخل المغرب فاستوطن القيروان، وبها مات، واستجازه ابن الحصار، وابنه أبو القاسم، فأجازهما.
