عريف [¬٦] مولى ليث بن فضيل لورقي، أبو المطرف، سمع من فضل وتفقه عنده، وفي البيرة من ابن فطيس كثيرا.وكان حافظا للفقه، بصيرا بالفتيا، جامعا للعلم، بلغ مبلغ الشورى في موضعه، وعليه كان معولهم في وقته. وعاجلته منيته - قبل اكتهاله [¬١] بصاعقة قتلته سنة ثمان وعشرين (¬٢١٠)، وكان طويل اللحية.
