    فرج بن سلمة بن زهير (¬١١٥) ابن مالك بن سرحان بن زهير بن مالك بن أبى الأملح البلوي، قرطبي المولد، وأصله [¬١] من باجة، وانتقل إلى فحص البلوط، وكنيته أبو سعيد. سمع من ابن لبابة وجالسه، وتفقه منه، وسمع من القاضي أسلم، وأحمد بن خالد، ومحمد بن أيمن، وأبان بن محمد، وأحمد بن بقي، وابن أبي تمام، وابن وليد، وقاسم بن أصبغ، وغيرهم. ورحل فسمع بالقيروان من ابن اللباد، وغيره. وكان حافظا للرأي على مذهب مالك، غلب عليه التفقه والمناظرة، وكان عاقدا للشروط، مشاورا في الأحكام، واستقضي بوادى الحجارة وولي صلاتها، ثم قضاء رية، وله في الوثائق تأليف حسن. توفى سنة خمس وأربعين وثلاثمائة. مولده سنة ثمان وثمانين (¬١١٦).
