زياد بن محمد بن زياد بن عبد الرحمان الجمحي حفيد شبطون سمع من يحيى وغيره، وعنى بطلب العلم وجمعه، وكان فاضلا ورعا. وكان مرشحا لقضاء قرطبة، وأشار الوزراء على المنذر الأمير بولايته، فشاور بقى بن مخلد فيه، فقال: نعم الحدث! فسأله: من ترى؟ فأشار بعامر بن معاوية. توفى في رجب سنة ثلاث وسبعين ومائتين.
