عبد الله بن محمد بن معبد بن عباد بن كثير التيمي يعرف بالبندى، ويكنى بأبي محمد، وجده أبو معمر عباد المحدث المشهور بأفريقية.وكان الله عبد من أصحاب سحنون. روى عنه أحمد بن محمد القصرى. قال أبو العرب: سمعت منه، وكان له سمت وهيبة حسنة. قال ابن الجزار: كان من الفقهاء المدنيين، من أهل العلم باللغة والنحو والفصاحة. توفى سنة تسع وتسعين ومائتين، وهو ابن سبع وثمانين سنة.
