جبلة بن حمود بن عبد الرحمان بن جبلة الصدفي أبو يوسف، من أبناء القادمين مع حسان بن النعمان، أسلم جده على يد عثمان بن عفان. سمع من سحنون، وعون، وأبى إسحاق البرقى، وداود بن يحيى، وغيرهم من المصريين والإفريقيين. وله ثلاثة أجزاء، مجالس عن سحنون، رويت عنه. وقد روى عن سحنون المدونة، وروايته فيها معلومة (¬٣٩٧). وكان أولا يسمع كلام العراقيين، ويجلس إلى محمد بن أسباط، ثم ترك ذلك، وصحب سحنون. روى عنه أبو العرب، وعبد الله بن أبي عقبة، وعبد الله بن سعيد. قال ابن حارث: كان من أهل الخير البين، والعبادة الطاهرة، والورع، والزهد، وكان الغالب عليه النسك والزهد.
