    ٩٤ - (د) الحسين بن معاذ بن حطيف البصري: قال مسلمة بن قاسم في كتاب الصلة: ثقة بصري. وقال أبو داود: كان ثبتا في عبد الأعلى بن عبد الأعلى (¬٦). ورأيت بخط المهندس: قال الشيخ - يعني المزي - رأيت بخط شيخنا أبي طاهر السلفي مضبوطًا: حليف - بالحاء المهملة - انتهى.هذا يوهم من يراه أن السلفي شيخ المزي، وليس كذلك، والله تعالى أعلم، يعرف ذلك أهل الصنعة، ولكن قد يراه أحد من غيرهم فيتوهم ذلك.
