٧٧ - (دت) الحسين بن علي الأسود أبو عبد الله العجلي الكوفي. مات سنة أربع وخمسين ومائتين في ما ألفيته في كتاب الصريفيني. وقال مسلمة في كتاب الصلة: روى عنه من أهل بلدنا بقي بن مخلد.وكرر صاحب الكمال ذكره في الحسين بن الأسود (¬١)، ولم ينبه عليه المزي. وقال الآجريّ: سمعت أبا داود يقول: حسين بن الأسود الكوفي لا ألتفت إلى حكايته أراها أوهاما (¬٢). وفيه إشكال لأنه لم يعهد منه تضعيف لشيوخه الذين يأخذ عنهم فينظر. وخرج ابن حبان حديثه في صحيحه، واللّه تعالى أعلم. وقال ابن الموّاق: رمي بالكذب وسرقة الحديث.
