    ١١٧٠ - محمد بن داود بن محمد بن منتاب شمس الدين الموصلي التاجر ولد بعد سنة سبعين حفظ التنبيه والشاطبية وسمع من ابي جعفر بن الموازينى وتعانى التجارة فمهر فيها ثم قطن دمشق بعد العشرين وكان مهيبا جميل اللباس كثير الصدقة حسن البشر كثير المحاسن خبيرا بالامتعة قال الذهبى قل ان رأيت مثله فى الدين والمحاسن والوقار والايثار علقت عنه حكايات ومدحته بقصيدة ووقف كتبا كبارا بدمشق وبغداد وكان له حظ من تهجد ومروءة وكان التجار يخضعون له ويحتكمون اليه وثوقا بعلمه وورعه ومات فى ذى القعدة سنة ٧٢٨ وورثه اخوه الحاج منتاب *
