    ٨٩٨ - محمد بن احمد بن على بن برطال المالقى ابو عبد اللّه ولد سنة ٦٢٩ واخذ عن ابيه وخاله ابى عبد اللّه بن عسكر وعيسى بن سليمان الرعينى ومحمد بن عيسى الفاسى وابى بكر بن خميس وابى على بن ابى الاحوص وابى القاسم بن الطيلسان (¬٣) واجاز له بعض اصحاب السلفي سنة ثلاثين قال ابن الخطيب كان من جلة الفقهاء عارفا بالنوازل ذا نزاهة مفرط الوقار معظما عند الخاصة والعامة سليم الصدر صليبا فى الحق مهيبا عالي الهمة مقتصدا متقللا من الدنيا قديم العدالة قوالا بالحق متعففا مقتصرا على ما يحصل له من املاك صيرها اليه الميراث عن آبائه وولي قضاء مالقة وكانت وفاته فى ثامن المحرم سنة ٧٢٠ وهو فى عشر المائة *
