    [٦١٨١/ ٥٣٠٥] (ق) محمد بن أبي الضيف. بالضاد المعجمة فإياك أن تصحفه ولهم محمد بن أبي الصيف بالصاد المهملة [يماني] (*) متأخر جدًّا. سمع عبد المنعم الفُراوي وحدث وله أربعون حديثًا. وأما المذكور في ابن ماجه فهو مولى بني مخزوم مكي. يروى عن: عبد الله بن عثمان بن خثيم، وعبد الله بن أبي نجيح، وجماعة. وعنه: محمد بن ميمون الخياط - بالخاء المعجمة وتشديد المثناة تحت - وبكر بن خلف ختن المقرئ. لم أر فيه كلامًا لأحد لا بتعديل ولا تجريح والله أعلم.
