[٥٣٦٢/ ٤٥٨٣] (سى) العلاء بن كثير الإسكندراني مولي قريش.عن: القاسم بن محمد، وعكرمة، ووهب بن كيسان، وسعيد بن المسيب، وأبي عبد الرحمن الحُبلى وقد تقدم الكلام على بابه مرات أنها مثلثة المشهور الضم فيها وبفتح الياء وتسكن وطائفة. وعنه: حيوة بن شريح -بالشين المعجمة، والحاء المهملة-، وعمرو بن الحارث، والليث، وغيرهم. وثقه أبو زرعة، وقال ابن يونس: كان مستجاب الدعاء توفى سنة (١٤٤). ذكره فى "الميزان" تمييزًا من الآتى هنا بعده فقال: زاهد الإسكندرية وعالمها وثقه أبو زرعة وكان مجاب الدعوة هجر الليث لكونه ولى للمنصور فتاب الليث وانعزل، ثم ذكر وفاته كما ذكرت.
