    [٤٩٦٠/ ٤٢٤٣] (م د س) عُمر بن سعيد بن مسروق، أخو سفيان الثوري. عن: أبيه، وأشعث بن أبى الشعثاء، والأعمش، وغيرهم. وعنه: ابنه حفص، وأخوه مبارك، وسفيان بن عيينة، وإبراهيم بن طهمان، وأبو بكر بن عياش، وغيرهم. وثقه النسائي وذكره ابن حبان فى "الثقات" وذكره أحمد العجلى فقال: وهو أسن من سفيان، وكان بعض الكوفيين يفضله على سفيان، كوفى ثقة، وكان رجلًا صالحًا يُفضل على سفيان انتهى. قال الذهبي في زياداته على التهذيب: قلت مات شابًا.
