[٢٣٨٤/ ٢٤٠٦] (خ ٤) سفيان بن زياد العُصْفرى، أبو الورقاء الكوفي. عن: أبيه، وشريح القاضى، وعكرمة، وسعيد بن جبير، وغيرهم.وعنه: الثورى سفيان، وعمر بن الخطاب البجلي، ومحمد ويعلى ابنا عُبيد وجماعة. وثقه أبو حاتم وغيره. والصحيح أنه غير سفيان التَّمار، وممن خلطهما (خ) وغيره. ذكره في "الميزان" تمييزًا، فقال: ومن الأثبات سفيان بن زياد العصفرى إلى أن قال: وثقوه. انتهى.
