[٦/ ٨] (م، د، ت، س) أحمد بن إسحاق بن زيد بن عبد الله بن أبي إسحاق الحضرمي مولاهم البصري، أبو إسحاق. أخو يعقوب القارئ. عن: عكرمة بن عمار، وهمام، ووهيب، وحماد بن سلمة، وطائفة. وعنه: أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة، وأبو خيثمة أحمد، وعبد بن حميد، وأبو بكر الصاغاني، وجماعة. وثقه أبو حاتم، وجماعة، منهم: (س)، وقال أحمد بن حنبل: لم يكن به بأس، تركته من أجل ابن أكثم، دخل له في شيء. وذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات"، قال: كان يخضب رأسه، ولحيته بالحناء، وكان يحفظ حديثه كله. قال ابن سعد: مات بالبصرة سنة (٢١١). له ترجمة في "الميزان" (¬١).
