    ٣١٧ - عبد الله بن عمر بن إسماعيل الفقيه ابن أحمد البطناوي (¬١)، المعروف بالفيل، وسبب تلقيبه بذلك أنه صنع فيلا من ثلج، ويعرف بابن الفقيه إسماعيل، وأمه صالحة بنت الشيخ أبي هريرة عبد الرحمن ابن الحافظ أبي هريرة ابن الذهبي. ولد قبل سنة خمس وتسعين وسبعمائة (¬٢)، بكفر بطنا (¬٣) من غوطة دمشق. لقيته يوم السبت من عشري جمادي الأولى سنة تسع وخمسين وثمانمائة بجامع كفر بطنا في جماعة من أهل العلم، وأخبرنا أنه سمع جده لأمه لكنه لا يعرف ما سمع عليه، وأجاز لنا جميع ما يجوز له روايته، وأخبرني أنه قرأ على جده الفاتحة، ومن: ﴿قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ﴾ إلى سورة الرحمن.
