    ١٨٨ - جوهر (¬٤٤٢) بن عبد الله ، اشتغل بالصرف والنحو فأقام لسانه، ثم أقبل على الحديث فقرأ بنفسه، وطالع الطّباق وكتب الرجال، وسمع الكثير، وولى نظر الطيبرسية (¬٤٤٣)، فلما ولى الظاهر جقمق طلب منه شيئا بعنف فنفاه إلى قوص (¬٤٤٤) فوجد بها رجلا عالما بالقراءات، وقال له .... كذا فقرأ عليه أفرادا وجمعا وإجازة وشفع فيه فرجع إلى القاهرة وتنقلت به الأحوال إلى أن ولاه الظاهر نيابة قلعة الجبل.
