٦٤٧٦ - عليّ بن محمّد، أبو الحسن الصّوفيّ المعروف بالمزين (¬٢): كان صاحب تعبد واجتهاد. أخبرنا إسماعيل بن أحمد الحيرى، أخبرنا محمّد بن الحسين السلمي قال: سمعت منصور بن عبد الله يقول سمعت أبا الحسن المزين يقول: الكلام من غير ضرورة مقت من الله للعبد. أخبرني أبو الحسن محمّد بن عبد الواحد، أخبرنا أبو عبد الرّحمن السلمي قال:عليّ بن محمّد أبو الحسن المزين الكبير بغدادي الأصل أقام بمكة، سمع بنانا الحمال وغيره. وقال لي أبو القاسم عبد الكريم بن هوازن القشيري: أبو الحسن عليّ بن محمّد المزين من أهل بغداد، من أصحاب سهل بن عبد الله والجنيد، مات بمكة مجاورا سنة ثمان وعشرين وثلاثمائة، وكان ورعا كبيرا.
