سباع بن ثابت سكن مكة. ١٢١٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة نا سفيان بن عيينة عن عبيد الله بن أبي يزيد عن أبيه عن سباع بن ثابت قال: أدركتهم في الجاهلية يطوفون بين الصفا والمروة وهم يقولون: اليوم قرى عينا = بقرع المروتيناسيابة السلمي //٢٨٥// سكن الشام. ١٢١٦ - حدثنا محمد بن سليمان لوين نا هشيم عن شيخ من قريش يقال له: يحيى بن سعيد بن عمر بن سعيد بن العاص عن سيابة السلمي: أن رسول الله ﷺ قال يوم حنين: " أن ابن العواتك من سليم." قال لوين: ولا أدرى لعل أدخل بينهما رجل حتى أنظر فيه. قال أبو القاسم: ولا أعلم لسباية غير هذا.
