سعد بن زيد [بن سعد] الأشهلي سكن المدينة روى عن النبي ﷺ حديثا. ٩٤٩ - حدثنا محمد بن علي الجوزجاني نا عبد الله بن عبد الوهاب الحجبي قال: حدثني إبراهيم بن جهفر الأنصاري قال: حدثني رجل منا اسمه سليمان بن محمد بن محمود بن محمد بن مسلمة عن سعد بن زيد بن سعد الأشهلي: أنه أهدى للنبي ﷺ أو أُهدى للنبي ﷺ سيف من نجران فلما قدم عليه [الناس] أعطاه محمد بن مسلمة فقال: جاهد بهذا في سبيل الله فإذا اختلفت أعناق الناس فاضرب به الحجر ثم ادخل بيتك وكن حلسا ملقى حتى تقتلك يد خاطئة، أو تأتيك منية قاضية.قال أبو القاسم: ولا أعلم لسعد الأشهلي عن النبي ﷺ غير هذا.
