يوسف بن خلف بن سفيان بن عمر بن أسود الغساني البجاني المكتب سكن قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا عمر. سمع: من مسلمة بن قاسم، ومن أحمد بن سعيد ونظرائهما. وكان يؤم في مسجده ويعلم القرآن. حدث عنه أبو عبد الله الخولاني وقال: كان وراقا محسناً، حسن الرتبة، كثير الدربة، مقتنعا في دنياه، متقللا منها، منقبضا عن الناس، مقبلا على ما يعنيه، وعمر نحو الثمانين سنة. قال: وسألته عن مولده: فقال ولدت سنة الخندق. فقلت: سنة سبع وعشرين؟ قال: نعم، وتوفي بعد الأربع مائة، وحدث عنه أيضا الصاحبان، وهشام بن هلال، وأخوه قاسم وغيرهم.
