مزين بن جعفر بن مزين: من أهل قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا بكر. وهو من ولد يحيى بن مزين الفقيه. له سماع على أبي عمرو بن جهور المرشاني وغيره. وكان رجلاً فاضلا زاهدا منقبضا عن الناس، مثابرا على العمل، دؤباً على الصلاة. وتوفي ﵀ صدر شوال من سنة إحدى وأربعين وأربع مائة. وكان مولده سنة ثمان وخمسين وثلاث مائة. ذكره ابن حيان وقد حدث عنه يونس بن عبد الله القاضي ﵀ في كتاب فضائل يحيى بن مجاهد ﵀ من تأليفه.
